"They wait for the world to make sense again"......means that peope wait and hope for the world to be back to normal, when you had workers who slaved under machines and fixed them for businesses. The workers who lost their jobs, wait for the business owners to call and give them another job opportunity, that involves working with their hands, because that's all they know how to do. These workers did not go to college some did not even graduate high school, they went into hard work to become successful fast without school.
These workers wait with hope and faith that someday their work would be most needed again without the help of machines. The machines are the one's that took their jobs away from them in the first place. The workers deserve this chance to use their hard work and to put it to good use again like in the old days, when all they had was their hands. Now all they want is to do no hard work and not even lift a finger, yet they punish the hard workers who like to work with their hands, by not supplying them with jobs, just throw them away just like that with no money and no work.
Many of the workers must think eveyday, why me?, what did i do to deserve this? The truth is they do not deserve this, they deserve a chance to have their skills shine again and beable to make a living with doing the things they love. This poem means that those hard workers, eventhough they suffered because their jobs were taken from them, they will not suffer anymore. The reason why, is because their is a place people can use their skills and put to good use, it is heaven, that is why the poem is called "Men at the Gates", it is talking about the Gates that open to heaven, that will allow people to forfill their dream and to not regret it.
